Double chins are typically caused by pre-platysmal or sub-platysmal fat deposits and genetic hyoid bone positioning. Muscle exercises cannot spot-reduce fat or re-anchor stretched retaining ligaments.
Is face yoga safe?
Yes. Because face yoga involves only manual muscle movement without foreign substances, needles, or devices, it is entirely non-toxic and carries no risk of tissue necrosis or scarring. The primary "costs" are the significant daily time investment and the potential delay in seeking clinically proven treatments for progressive skin conditions.
What is the difference between face yoga and facial gua sha?
Face yoga involves active muscle contraction and resistance exercises performed by the patient to build facial muscle tone. Facial gua sha is a passive manual therapy where a smooth stone tool is gently stroked across lubricated skin to promote lymphatic drainage, temporarily reduce facial puffiness, and relieve muscular tension. Neither modality can lift sagging skin or eliminate structural wrinkles permanently.
